EV Charger Installation FAQ

  • Most Level 2 home installations in the Columbia area range from $1,500 to $4,500 depending on the charger, cable run length, and whether a panel upgrade is needed. Our Standard package starts at $1,695 and includes everything except the charger itself. Our Premium and Ultimate packages include the charger. Call us for a firm quote — we'll give you the exact number after a quick look at your setup.

  • Not always. A 48-amp charger needs a 60-amp breaker on a 240V circuit. Most Columbia homes with 200-amp panels can handle this without an upgrade. Older homes with 100-amp panels — common in neighborhoods like Shandon, Rosewood, and Forest Acres — may need a panel upgrade or sub-panel. We assess this during your free on-site visit and tell you straight.

  • For Tesla-only households, the Tesla Wall Connector Gen 3 ($475) delivers the fastest home charging at 48 amps. For mixed-EV households (Tesla plus a Ford, Rivian, Hyundai, or BMW), the Tesla Universal Wall Connector ($595) charges everything with a built-in J1772 adapter. We install both daily.

  • Most installations are completed in 2–4 hours during a single visit. Complex installs involving panel upgrades may take 4–6 hours or require a second visit.
